Assam: Reports of Executions in ULFA-I Camps Raise Concerns

Guwahati, 29th October: Disturbing reports have emerged from Assam regarding the execution of individuals associated with the banned outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I). Following the recent execution of Abhinash Kalita from Pathsala, who attempted to flee the camp in Myanmar, another case of an ULFA-I cadre’s execution has come to light, identified as Tanmoy Bora alias Dwip Axom.

This news has created a sensation in the state, as concerns grow about the fate of individuals who have joined such militant groups. Abhilash Kalita’s parents, while speaking to the media, revealed that their son had joined ULFA-I on March 9, 2022, and was reportedly killed while trying to escape the camp. They called on ULFA-I Commander-in-Chief Paresh Baruah to clarify his stance on the matter.

Assam Director General of Police GP Singh responded to the deaths in the ULFA-I camp with a message on social media, urging young people not to sacrifice their lives for an authoritarian organization. He emphasized that such actions have no value and urged the youth not to waste their lives in such pursuits.
