Assam: Resignation Wave Hits APCC as General Secretary Manash Borah Steps Down

Guwahati, 30th March: In a sequence of resignations from the Congress party, General Secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Manash Borah, tendered his resignation on March 30, shortly after Congress leader Gauravv Somani’s departure from the party’s primary membership.

The resignation of Manash Borah adds to the challenges faced by the Assam unit of the Congress party, already grappling with a wave of resignations.

In his resignation letter addressed to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Manash Borah expressed his gratitude for the opportunities to serve the people of Assam in various capacities. He cited the desire to explore new opportunities for the welfare of his constituents as the reason behind his decision.

Manash Borah emphasized his intention to seek new avenues for serving the people and the state, expressing gratitude for the experiences gained while working with the Indian National Congress.

Speculations arise regarding Manash Borah’s potential transition to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with reports suggesting a scheduled announcement at 3 pm on the same day.

Manash Borah, son of former minister Akon Borah, had previously contested as the candidate from Guwahati in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, adding significance to his decision to depart from the Congress party.
