Assam Rifles and Customs Division Seize Arms in Karimganj; Assam STF and Kamrup Police Apprehend Dacoits
Guwahati, 22nd June: In a joint operation with the Customs Division, Karimganj, the Assam Rifles seized a cache of arms and ammunition in the Adamtilla area of Karimganj district, Assam, on June 19. The operation led to the recovery of a country-made 9mm pistol with a magazine, four 9mm live rounds, four 7.62mm live rounds, and a single-barrel rifle. The seized consignment was handed over to the Customs Division, Karimganj, for further legal proceedings, and an investigation is ongoing.
In a related incident, on June 21, a team from the Assam STF and Kamrup police, led by Additional SP Kalyan Kumar Pathak, apprehended four dacoits near Singra, close to Boko Police Station. Acting on intelligence about the group’s plan to steal an ATM while traveling from Goalpara to Guwahati, the operation was successfully executed early Friday morning.
