Assam Rifles and Excise Department Seize Contraband Drugs Worth Over Rs 54.79 Crore in Mizoram
Northeast Desk, 27th July: In a significant breakthrough, troopers of Assam Rifles, along with the Excise & Narcotics Department of Champhai, Mizoram, carried out two separate operations, resulting in the seizure of a massive quantity of contraband drugs worth over Rs 54.79 crore.
The Assam Rifles verified the successful retrieval on Wednesday (July 26) in an official statement issued by Inspector General Assam Rifles (East). Based on precise and trustworthy information, the operations were carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and the Customs Department.
In the Mualkawi area, the troopers seized an astounding 94,940 meth tablets. In another operation conducted in the Khuangleng area, an additional 87,720 meth tablets were recovered.
The total value of the cargo of Meth pills is Rs 54,79,80,000. Following the seizure, the contraband substances were turned over to Champhai’s Excise and Narcotics Department for further legal action.
This massive haul is a testament to the relentless efforts by the security forces and law enforcement agencies to combat the drug menace and curb illegal activities in the region. The joint operation’s success sends a strong message against the trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs, contributing to safeguarding the well-being and safety of the community.
