Assam Rifles and Lakhipur Police Seize Brown Sugar Worth Rs 68.2 Lakhs in Joint Operation

Guwahati, 3rd February: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Radhanagar Battalion of Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Lakhipur police station, conducted a successful operation in the general area Binnakandi, under Lakhipur police station in Cachar District of Assam on Friday. The joint operation led to the seizure of 97 grams of Brown Sugar valued at Rs 68.2 lakhs.

Acting on credible information, the coordinated team apprehended one civilian along with a bike suspected to be involved in the illicit drug trade. The seized contraband and the vehicle were subsequently handed over to the Lakhipur police station in Cachar District for further investigation and legal proceedings.

This operation marks another step in the collective efforts of Assam Rifles and local law enforcement to create a drug-free society. The success of this joint initiative underscores the effectiveness of collaborative measures in combating the illegal drug trade in the region.

This development follows a previous operation on January 29, where the Cachar district police confiscated 460 grams of Methamphetamine and 1.531 kg of heroin. The police apprehended two suspected drug peddlers during this operation, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to curb drug-related activities within the area.
