Guwahati, 6th January: In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police successfully recovered 1.137 kg of psychotropic drug WY tablets along the Assam-Manipur border on January 5. The operation, prompted by specific inputs, aimed to counter the smuggling of contraband and drugs across state borders amid the current internal situation in Manipur.
The seized psychotropic drug, WY Tablets, valued at approximately Rs 1.5 Crore, was recovered from the bordering area of Assam and Manipur. The individual responsible for the smuggling, along with the confiscated drugs, was handed over to Jiribam Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Local civil society leaders praised the collaborative efforts of Assam Rifles and Jiribam Police in their actions to combat the drug menace and protect the future of the youth.
