Assam Rifles and Mizoram CID Seize Heroin Worth ₹9.51 Lakh, Arrest Three Individuals
Aizawl: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Mizoram Special Narcotics CID, recovered heroin worth ₹9.51 lakh in Aizawl and apprehended three individuals.
The arrested individuals were identified as Ngurthanzami (29) of New Champhai, Bikash Gharti (24) from Zemabawk S.A Veng, and Lalramthara (37) of Tuikual South. The contraband, totaling 13.590 grams of Heroin No. 4, was found in transparent white polythene bags carried by the suspects.
Officials stated that the operation was executed based on specific intelligence inputs. The seized heroin and the apprehended individuals were handed over to the Special Narcotics CID (Crime), Police Station in Aizawl, Mizoram, for further legal proceedings.
In an official press release, the Assam Rifles highlighted their commitment to combating drug trafficking in the region. “This operation underscores our resolve to curb the narcotics menace in Mizoram and protect its citizens,” the statement read.
Cannabis Plantation Destroyed in Boxanagar Forest Range
In another joint operation, the Assam Rifles, along with the Tripura Police and Forest Service, destroyed an extensive ganja plantation spread over 16.2 hectares in the Boxanagar Forest Range under the Sonamura sub-division in Mizoram.
The operation resulted in the eradication of approximately 16,500 cannabis plants, valued at ₹70 lakh. This decisive action is part of an ongoing effort to combat illegal drug cultivation and trafficking in the region.
The Assam Rifles reiterated their commitment to working with local authorities to tackle the growing challenge of drug-related crimes. These back-to-back successes reflect the collaborative efforts of security forces and enforcement agencies to ensure a safer and drug-free society.
