Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police Conduct Joint Operation, Arms Seized
Northeast Desk, 13th February: In a collaborative effort, a combined team of Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police conducted a joint operation in the general area of Shingphan Forest Area of Nagaland on February 6, 2024, resulting in the seizure of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
Acting on specific inputs, Assam Rifles, along with Nagaland Police, carried out a thorough search operation, uncovering a cache that included a 0.22 rifle, two 0.32 pistols, one 7.62mm pistol, and other warlike stores in the Shingphan Forest area.
The recovered arms and ammunition have been securely taken into possession, and legal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the recovery.
This joint operation demonstrates the effective collaboration between Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police in combating illegal arms trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of the region. Such coordinated efforts are crucial in maintaining peace and stability in areas prone to violence and insurgency.
In a separate incident, Assam Rifles, in conjunction with Kohima Police, intercepted a vehicle suspected of smuggling weapons, ammunition, and explosives into Manipur from Nagaland during the early hours of June 27. Acting on specific intelligence, the joint operation commenced at 2 am on June 26, resulting in the surveillance and eventual interception of the vehicle after nearly four hours of monitoring by the security forces.
