Assam Rifles Launches Operation Jal Rahat II to Combat Manipur Floods

Northeast Desk, 5th July: In response to the escalating flood crisis in Manipur, the Assam Rifles has launched “Operation Jal Rahat II” to bolster defenses along riverbanks and mitigate the inundation threatening residential areas.

Troops from the Assam Rifles have been actively engaged in rescue operations in Singjamei, Imphal East, where rising waters have trapped residents. They have also provided critical medical assistance to those affected by the floods. Concurrently, efforts are underway to reinforce riverbanks in both Imphal West and East districts, aimed at containing the spread of floodwaters and safeguarding vulnerable communities.

To streamline coordination and response efforts, Flood Control Rooms have been activated at Keithelmanbi and Chingmeirong. These control rooms serve as central hubs for managing rescue operations, distributing aid, and monitoring flood conditions in real-time.

According to Assam Rifles officials, Operation Jal Rahat II is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of Manipur’s residents amidst the ongoing monsoon crisis. The operation has already witnessed significant achievements in rescuing flood-stranded individuals and providing essential medical aid.

The Assam Rifles remains committed to addressing the challenges posed by the floods, leveraging their resources and expertise to support local communities and mitigate the impact of the monsoon deluge.

This initiative underscores the proactive measures undertaken by security forces to assist in disaster management and uphold public safety during times of natural calamity.
