Assam Rifles Nabs Two PLA Cadres Along Indo-Myanmar Border in Manipur
TENGNOUPAL: In a significant security operation, the Assam Rifles apprehended two active cadres of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) during a routine patrol near the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district on Monday.
According to official sources, the arrest was made near international border pillars when patrolling troops spotted suspicious movement. On being challenged, the individuals attempted to flee into a nearby forested area, but the troops swiftly launched a cordon and search operation, successfully intercepting them.
The two arrested have been identified as Thingnam Amujao Singh and Kanjam Motea Meitei, both alleged to be active PLA operatives. They were handed over to local police for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings.
The PLA is a proscribed insurgent group active in Manipur, and the arrest marks another step in ongoing counter-insurgency efforts by security forces along the sensitive Indo-Myanmar frontier.
