Assam Rifles Seizes Ammunition and Heroin in Mizoram
Northeast Desk, 7th March: In separate operations, Assam Rifles personnel have made significant seizures in Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district and Champhai district.
In Lawngtlai district, acting on a tip-off, Assam Rifles intercepted a vehicle at the Sanagu market area and recovered 3,000 rounds of cartridges of a sniper rifle along with 10 passive night sight (PNS) devices. PNS devices are crucial for operating certain weapons in low-light conditions.
Meanwhile, in Champhai district, Assam Rifles recovered a substantial quantity of Heroin No 4 weighing 5394 grams, valued at Rs 37.75 crore. The operation, conducted by a joint team of Assam Rifles and the Police Department Zokhawthar, led to the apprehension of an individual involved in the smuggling activity. The seized heroin and the apprehended individual have been handed over to the Police Department Zokhawthar for further legal proceedings.
These successful operations demonstrate Assam Rifles’ commitment to combating smuggling activities and ensuring security in Mizoram.
