Assam Rifles Seizes Heroin, Methamphetamine Worth Crores in Mizoram
Imphal: In a series of operations conducted in Mizoram, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with local law enforcement agencies, has successfully seized significant quantities of heroin and methamphetamine, worth crores of rupees.
A joint operation with the Excise and Narcotics Department led to the recovery of 22 grams of Heroin No. 4, valued at Rs 15.40 lakh, from the Zote area of Champhai district. A 40-year-old woman, identified as Tlangmawii, was apprehended in connection with the seizure. The contraband was cleverly concealed within her clothing bag.
In a separate operation conducted by Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Zokhawthar Police Department, seized a massive 22.676 kg of Methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 68.03 crore near the Balu Kai area of Zokhawthar. Acting on specific intelligence, troops from the Combined Operation Base in Zokhawthar laid an ambush and intercepted a suspect crossing the Tiau River with a suspicious bag. A thorough search of the bag revealed the hidden narcotics.
These successful operations underscore the unwavering commitment of the Assam Rifles and local authorities to combat the menace of drug trafficking in the border regions of Mizoram. The seizures have dealt a significant blow to drug syndicates operating in the area and will serve as a strong deterrent to future illicit activities.
