Assam Rifles Seizes Heroin Worth Over Rs 25 Lakh in Mizoram, One Arrested

Aizawl: In a significant breakthrough against drug smuggling, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Excise and Narcotics Department, seized heroin worth over Rs 25 lakh in the Zore area of Champhai district, Mizoram.

The operation, conducted on December 13, led to the arrest of 25-year-old Joseph Lalmuansanga, a resident of Zotlang.

According to a press release issued by HQ IGAR (East), the operation was executed based on specific intelligence inputs. The team recovered a consignment of Heroin No. 4 valued at Rs 25.20 lakh. The apprehended individual and the seized contraband were subsequently handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai, for further legal proceedings.

The press release emphasized the growing threat posed by smuggling activities in Mizoram and across India. It reiterated the Assam Rifles’ unwavering commitment to combating the illegal trade of contraband substances, which remains a persistent challenge in the region.
