Assam Rifles Seizes Large Quantity of Heroin in Mizoram
Northeast Desk, 7th March: In a significant operation, Assam Rifles successfully intercepted a substantial quantity of Heroin No 4, weighing 5394 grams and valued at Rs 37.75 crore, in the general area of Melbuk Road Junction, Zokhawthar, Champhai district on March 6, 2024.
The operation, conducted by a joint team comprising Assam Rifles personnel and a representative from the Police Department Zokhawthar, was based on specific intelligence. The entire consignment of heroin, along with the apprehended individual, has been handed over to the Police Department Zokhawthar for further legal action.
The ongoing smuggling of drugs poses a significant threat to the state of Mizoram and the nation as a whole. Assam Rifles, often referred to as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast,’ continue their relentless efforts against illegal smuggling activities and have intensified their operations to apprehend the masterminds behind the smuggling of contraband items in Mizoram.
