Assam: Rijumoni Talukdar Takes Charge as Darrang District Congress President

Guwahati: Rijumoni Talukdar officially took over as the President of the Darrang District Congress Committee on Thursday, stepping into a pivotal leadership position as the party prepares for the crucial state assembly polls in 2026.

The formal ceremony was held at the Congress headquarters in Mangaldoi, where over a hundred party workers and supporters gathered to welcome Talukdar.

Before the event, Talukdar paid a visit to the historic Narikali Shiva temple, in the morning to offer prayers and seeking blessings for her new role.

Her appointment as the chief of the party’s Darrang unit was announced last week and hundreds of Congress supporters and leaders had earlier gathered to welcome her with enthusiasm and optimism.

Expressing gratitude to Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi, Talukdar is set to lead the party’s efforts in Darrang district as it prepares for the upcoming elections.

With this new role, Talukdar is poised to play a key part in shaping the party’s strategy and outreach in the region.
