Assam: Rising Egg Prices Impacting Sales
Guwahati, 26th September: The cost of an egg tray has increased from Rs. 180 to Rs. 200 in Assam, resulting in a decrease in sales. Consumers are reluctant to buy eggs due to the price hike, causing sales to drop.
Roadside stalls and hotels that sell omelets are also affected, with sellers stating they have stopped buying eggs because of the price increase. This has led to a potential increase in the price of omelets, from Rs. 16 to Rs. 20.
This price hike follows increases in the prices of rice, pulses, and sugar in Assam earlier in August, impacting the cost of essential items for consumers in the state.
These essential items are now priced as follows following the price increase:
- Tur Dal from Rs. 110-120 to Rs. 160
- Matir Dal from Rs. 110 to Rs. 120
- Mustard Oil from Rs. 140 to Rs. 145-150
- Sugar from Rs. 44 to Rs. 46
