Assam: Rising Tiger Threat in Kaliabor Prompts Forest Department’s Action
Guwahati, 3rd October: The Forest Department in Kaliabor has intensified its efforts to address rising tensions as the local community faces an increasing threat from tigers. Tea workers at Sonari Tea Estate report frequent sightings of tigers, heightening the sense of unease in the area.
In response, the forest officials resorted to blank firing in an attempt to scare away the predators. However, a recent incident in which a young tiger calf was reportedly killed during a control operation has added to residents’ anxiety, who already live in fear of potential encounters.
The community is urging the authorities to implement more effective measures to protect both human lives and wildlife, as the ongoing threat continues to disrupt daily life in the region.
