Guwahati, 6th October: Amidst relentless rainfall in Assam, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) Guwahati has raised an orange alert for six districts in lower Assam on Thursday.
According to RMC Guwahati, heavy rainfall is expected in the lower Assam districts of Kokrajhar, South Salmara, Chirang, Baksa, Barpeta, and Dhubri from October 6 to October 7, 2023. This alert follows the India Meteorological Department’s issuance of heavy rain warnings for other Northeastern states.
It’s worth noting that Guwahati city has been grappling with the consequences of heavy rains, resulting in flooding in several low-lying areas over the past few days. The persistent downpour has saturated the streets, creating new challenges for both residents and authorities.
