Assam: Royal Global University Holds Protest and Condolence Meet Over Pahalgam Terror Attack
Guwahati: In a solemn display of unity and outrage, Royal Global University in Guwahati held a protest march and condolence meeting on April 23 to mourn the victims of the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The April 22 assault, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians—many of them tourists—has triggered a wave of grief and condemnation across the country.
Students, faculty, and staff participated in the peaceful march across the university campus, carrying placards that denounced terrorism and called for national solidarity. The demonstration culminated in a two-minute silence observed in memory of the deceased, as the campus stood still in mourning.
Chancellor AK Pansari addressed the gathering with a resolute message, calling the attack “an affront to humanity and our nation’s values,” and demanded the strongest action to ensure justice is served. “Such atrocities cannot be allowed to continue,” he said.
Utpal Kanta, Director of Growth and Strategy, echoed the sentiment, stressing the need for unity in this time of national crisis. “We vehemently condemn the terrorist acts that claimed innocent lives in Pahalgam. We stand together as a country,” he said.
Sattyakee D’com Bhuyan, Deputy Dean of Student Welfare, described the attack as “a cowardly assault on humanity,” and urged for swift accountability and justice for the victims.
The university’s initiative was part of a broader outpouring of grief and national outrage, with many likening the Pahalgam attack to the Pulwama tragedy of 2019. Through this demonstration, Royal Global University reaffirmed its commitment to peace, solidarity, and the collective call for justice.
