Assam: RPF Central Intelligence Bureau Seizes Rs 9 Lakh Worth of Foreign Cigarettes in Lumding Bust

Guwahati, 15th June: In a significant operation, the Railway Protection Force’s (RPF) Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) team in Lumding apprehended two youths and confiscated a large quantity of foreign-made cigarettes. The detainees, identified as Rishab and Harish, were caught during a raid on the Silchar Sealdah Kanchenjunga Express (train no. 13176).

The operation, led by Nandeshwar Das, officer-in-charge of the CIB team, resulted in the seizure of 234 boxes of Burmese cigarettes, with an estimated market value of Rs 9 lakh. This substantial seizure underscores the RPF’s ongoing efforts to combat the illegal trade of Burmese cigarettes.
