Assam Saurav Award Conferred to Distinguished Individuals
Guwahati, 13th February: In a prestigious ceremony held at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, the Assam Saurav award was bestowed upon four notable recipients, including renowned swimmer Elvis Ali Hazarika and sprinter Hima Das.
The awards, presented by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, were graced by the presence of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as the chief guest.
Alongside Hazarika and Das, archaeologist Dr. Kishan Chand Nauriyal and Tiwa dance exponent Nadiram Deuri were also honored for their significant contributions to Art & Culture.
Modeled after the Bharat Ratna and Padma Awards, the Assam Saurav awards represent the highest civilian recognition conferred by the Assam government.
The Assam Saurav awards underscore the state’s commitment to honoring excellence across diverse domains. Notably, former Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, was previously conferred with the prestigious Assam Baibhab, the highest civilian honor in the state.
Additionally, the Assam Gaurav, the third-highest civilian award, was bestowed upon 17 distinguished personalities, further exemplifying the state’s dedication to acknowledging outstanding achievements and contributions.
