Assam School Exam Halted Following Question Paper Leak

Guwahati: The scheduled annual English examination for class 9 students in Assam’s Barpeta district has been abruptly cancelled.

This decision, impacting numerous students, was prompted by the circulation of the question paper on social media platforms. Officials confirmed the leak, leading to the immediate postponement of the examination.

Ratul Kumar Das, the inspector of schools for Barpeta, issued an official order to all school administrators within the district. This order communicated the cancellation of the English paper, initially set for Thursday, March 20th. The directive cited “unavoidable circumstances” as the reason for the postponement, signaling the seriousness of the situation.

According to a representative from the district-level internal examination committee, the discovery of the leaked paper occurred on Wednesday evening. The committee’s official stated, “We suspect that the paper went viral on social media. We are verifying all claims. We cannot take any risk and cancelled the examination.” A revised date for the English exam will be announced at a later time.
