Assam: Schoolgirl Abduction Attempt Foiled in Dhubri; Accused Escapes After Assault
Guwahati, 21st September: A Class 9 schoolgirl narrowly escaped abduction near Dhubri Municipal High School on Friday afternoon when a young man, identified as Firoz, allegedly attempted to forcefully abduct her. The incident occurred as the girl was on her way home from school.
According to eyewitnesses, the accused physically assaulted the student in front of the school before attempting to drag her away. However, the girl’s cries for help drew the attention of nearby residents, who rushed to her aid, intervening in the attack.
Firoz was apprehended and beaten by the crowd but managed to escape before he could be handed over to the police.
Sources close to the investigation revealed that the victim had reportedly been receiving threats from Firoz for some time, escalating concerns about her safety. The girl’s family has filed an FIR at the Dhubri Sadar Police Station, urging authorities to take swift action against the accused.
The police are currently investigating the matter, with a manhunt underway to apprehend the suspect. Further developments in the case are awaited.
