Guwahati, 12th April: The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption apprehended a Senior Assistant at the Office of the Superintendent of Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Karbi Anglobg district of Assam for accepting a bribe on April 12.
The senior assistant has been identified as Gurupad Das.
As per sources, Das was arrested within his office premises in Bokajan while accepting the bribe from a complainant, which was demanded to facilitate the renewal of a license.
This incident underscores the ongoing battle against corruption in government institutions in the region.
Further investigations into the case are underway.
