Assam: Several political figures including expelled Congress leader Angkita Dutta to join BJP today
Guwahati, 28th January: In a formal ceremony today, several political figures, including expelled state Youth Congress president Angkita Dutta, AASU, AAP leaders, will officially join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Notable figures like former president of All Assam Student Union (AASU) Dipanka Nath and former AASU vice-president Prakash Das are among those set to join the BJP.
Additionally, former Congress leader Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee is expected to join the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on January 29. Meanwhile, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kamal Kumar Medhi is scheduled to join the BJP on February 5. Medhi’s move to the BJP coincides with the entry of prominent faces from the Congress and AASU into the BJP.
Kamal Kumar Medhi had faced controversy in July last year when he was expelled from the AAP for alleged derogatory remarks against the Ahom community. His political journey has seen affiliations with various parties, including Raijor Dal, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, and Congress.
