Assam: Shahanaz Khatun Clinches Gaon Panchayat Victory in Salmara
Guwahati: In a nail-biting electoral contest, Shahanaz Khatun has emerged as the winner for the Gaon Panchayat member position in the 20/6-Salmara 6th Block constituency, which falls under the 20-Bahir Salmara Gaon Panchayat in the Dhubri district.
The final tally of votes revealed Khatun’s strong support, as she secured a total of 281 votes, placing her ahead of the four other candidates vying for the seat.
Momtaz Begum put up a strong fight, securing 202 votes to finish as the closest contender. Amina Khatun claimed the third position with 124 votes. The remaining candidates, Mamoni Khatun and Nurjahan Nessa, received 50 and 10 votes respectively.
The election witnessed a total of 691 votes being cast by the constituents. Following the meticulous counting process, 665 votes, including postal ballots, were deemed valid. Unfortunately, 26 votes were rejected due to various discrepancies.
With the official declaration of the results, Shahanaz Khatun now holds the mandate to represent the people of the 20/6-Shalmara 6th Block constituency as their newly elected Gaon Panchayat member.
