Juria, Assam – A murder investigation has sent ripples of shock through Juria in Assam’s Nagaon district, following the death of a local man after a late-night brawl. The case has taken a sensational turn with allegations pointing fingers at a satellite news channel journalist and several self-styled portal journalists.
The incident reportedly unfolded late Wednesday night at Juria Bazaar, where an altercation flared up between Ashfikur Rahman, identified as a portal journalist, and Abdul Rahim, a resident of Kadamoni Pathar village, along with his family members. The reason behind the confrontation remains shrouded in mystery, but it quickly spiralled into a physical scuffle.
The plot thickened when Ashfikur Rahman lodged a complaint with the police the very next day, accusing Rahim’s family of assault. However, the situation took a tragic turn on Friday with the discovery of Abdul Rahim’s lifeless body, igniting widespread outrage and suspicion.
Rahim’s distraught wife has come forward with grave accusations, alleging that Ashfikur Rahman and his associates subjected her husband to a brutal group assault. She claims Rahim was found in a critical state near a local shop on Thursday morning but was tragically denied medical attention due to alleged threats issued by Fazlul Haque, a journalist associated with a satellite TV channel, and a group of portal reporters.
In her poignant complaint, the grieving wife has asserted that the accused not only attacked Rahim but also intimidated his family, allegedly preventing them from seeking crucial police or medical help, a delay she believes directly contributed to his untimely demise.
The Juria Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically Case No. 202/2025, invoking Sections 103(1), 351(2), and 3(5). The deceased’s body has been sent to Nagaon for a post-mortem examination as investigations intensify.
Authorities are now conducting a full-fledged inquiry, awaiting medical reports and witness testimonies to piece together the exact circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
