Guwahati: A sub-inspector from the Moran Police Station in Dibrugarh district of Assam has been dispatched to the reserve on Thursday.
The SI has been identified as Bhaben Dutta.
According to reports, Dutta was arrested in connection with the assault after it was reported that he had physically abused at least 10 youths while they were in custody.
Meanwhile, two youths, identified as Dudul Lekharu and Manav Hazarika, have been charged in Case No. 101/22 under Sections 341/342/323/427/34 IPC after turning themselves in to the Dibrugarh District Court earlier today.
Officer-in-Charge Bijoy Daimary had already been charged with abusing his authority and put to reserve close in relation to the matter.
Notably, the youths were accused of assaulting the wife of the officer-in-charge, due to which they were in lock-up.
