Assam: Six-laning of Guwahati bypass To Be Opened Today

Guwahati, 14th March: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed on Wednesday that the six-lane expanded bypass on National Highway-37, linking Khanapara to Jalukbari, is set to be inaugurated on Thursday, March 14.

In a statement on social media platform X, he emphasized the significant infrastructural advancements witnessed in the state in recent years.

Sarma highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Double Engine Government, underscoring that ongoing or completed projects in Assam amount to over ₹60,000 crore.

During his address, Sarma outlined the state government’s allocation of ₹26,000 crore towards various projects, in addition to the ₹23,000 crore already expended.

Moreover, he disclosed plans to invest ₹8 crore in phases for the redevelopment of high schools and allocate ₹4,000 crore towards establishing 500 new high schools across the state.

Reflecting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visits to Guwahati and Jorhat, Sarma recounted the dedication of projects worth ₹16,000 crore and ₹18,000 crore, respectively. The total infrastructural investment in Assam reaches ₹64,000 crore when factoring in the ₹30,000 crore investments in the new semiconductor plant in Jagiroad sanctioned by the Centre.

Thus, over the span of two years, schemes totaling ₹1,20,000 crore have been implemented in Assam. Sarma concluded by announcing the public unveiling of the Jalukbari to Khanapara six-lane highway, including the flyover, scheduled for the following day.
