Assam: South Karimganj MLA Siddique Ahmed Alleges Panchayat Voter List Irregularities, Plans Protest

Assam: South Karimganj MLA Siddique Ahmed has alleged serious irregularities in the panchayat voter list, claiming that his name has been deliberately excluded.

The issue has sparked controversy, with Ahmed accusing certain BJP members from the Sribhoomi area of orchestrating a conspiracy to erase the existence of the Dhalchara polling station.

In a press conference, Ahmed expressed outrage over what he described as glaring discrepancies in the electoral process. He pointed out irregularities such as wards with as few as one vote and others with up to 32 votes, raising questions about the transparency and fairness of the process. He also criticized the placement of polling centers, stating that some voters have to travel seven to eight kilometers to cast their votes.

Reacting to these alleged irregularities, Ahmed announced plans to gherao the District Commissioner’s office on Tuesday to demand accountability and corrections.

“These are not mere errors but deliberate actions to manipulate the democratic process,” Ahmed asserted, calling for immediate intervention to ensure free and fair elections in the region.
