Assam: South Salmara-Mankachar Police Nab Youth with Banned Pharmaceutical Capsules in Late-Night Raid
Guwahati: Kuralbhanga Part-II village in South Salmara-Mankachar district witnessed a significant police operation late last night, leading to the apprehension of a 25-year-old man and the seizure of a substantial cache of illicit pharmaceutical capsules. The swift action by law enforcement has dealt another blow to the drug trade flourishing in the region.
Acting on precise intelligence, a dedicated team from the Kalapani Outpost, under the vigilant leadership of the outpost in-charge and comprising SI(P) Bikash Kr Roy, ASI Ranjit Kr Barman, and ASI Mohibul Hoque, descended upon the village around 8:45 PM. The operation culminated in the immediate arrest of Momirul Mollah, a local resident, who was found in possession of the contraband.
During the meticulous search conducted at the scene, police successfully recovered 328 capsules of a banned pharmaceutical product, identified as SEMPLEX+, which contains a potent mix of Dicyclomine Hydrochloride, Tramadol Hydrochloride, and Acetaminophen. The total weight of these illicit capsules amounted to 237 grams. Additionally, authorities confiscated a Realme mobile phone and a black plastic carry bag, believed to have been used by the accused for the transportation of the illegal substances.
The entire operation was executed with utmost transparency, in the presence of three independent witnesses. Every item seized was thoroughly documented, weighed, packed, and sealed on-site, strictly adhering to the established protocols of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. To further ensure accountability and clarity, the arrest and seizure process was meticulously recorded using the e-sakshya mobile application.
Following his arrest, Momirul Mollah was transported to the Kalapani Outpost. A formal case is currently being registered against him under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further legal proceedings are now actively underway as investigations continue.
