Assam Special Court Remands Corrupt Officials To 4 Days Police Custody
Guwahati: A special court in Assam on Saturday sent two corrupt government officials, after being caught in the act of taking a bribe, to police custody.
The two employees, Barasha Bora Bordoloi and Nabajyoti Sharma were remanded by the court to four days of police custody today.
It should be mentioned that the two government employees were caught taking bribes on Thursday.
They had been presented to the court on the next day. Reports state that the police had asked the court to release the couple for seven days.
The judge ultimately opted to send them for four days of police custody after hearing the case, though.
The District Excise Superintendent of Morigaon, Bordoloi had been caught red-handed by the anti-corruption cell and local police while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000.
Sharma of the state education department was also detained by agents from Assam’s Vigilance and Anti-Corruption unit as he was accepting a bribe.
