Assam State Election Commission Releases Draft Electoral Rolls Ahead of Panchayat Polls

Assam: In preparation for the upcoming Panchayat elections in Assam, the State Election Commission published the draft electoral rolls on December 13.

The updated rolls reflect the impact of the fresh delimitation of Gaon Panchayat, Anchalik Panchayat, and Zilla Parishad constituencies carried out by the state government in 2024 for 27 districts, excluding Sixth Schedule and municipal areas.

According to the commission’s announcement, the draft rolls list a total of 1,75,54,589 voters, comprising 88,29,927 males, 87,24,274 females, and 388 individuals identifying as others. The state has 397 Zilla Parishads, 181 Anchalik Panchayats, 2,193 Gaon Panchayats, 21,930 Wards, and 23,781 polling stations spread across these districts.

The draft electoral rolls are accessible to the public at various locations, including the offices of the Gaon Panchayat, Block Development, Zilla Parishad, and District Commissioner. Additionally, voters can access the rolls online via the websites of the District Administration and the Assam State Election Commission at https://ermssec.assam.gov.in.

Voters can verify their inclusion in the draft rolls using their EPIC number issued by the Election Commission of India or by downloading the draft roll of their polling station from the website’s citizen corner.

The commission has invited claims and objections to the draft rolls from December 14 to December 21, 2024. Individuals can file their claims and objections through the concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), or District Authorities. The required formats for submissions are available at the offices of the EROs, AEROs, Gaon Panchayats, and on the official websites of the District Administration and the State Election Commission.

This exercise marks a critical step in ensuring an updated and accurate voter list ahead of the Panchayat elections, fostering transparency and inclusivity in the electoral process.
