Assam: STF Arrests Two in Dhubri for IPL Betting

Guwahati, 26th May: In a decisive move against illegal betting activities, the Special Task Force (STF) apprehended two individuals in Assam’s Dhubri district on Saturday. The arrests were made in connection with an illegal betting ring operating during Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

Based on a tip-off, the STF conducted raids at the residences of the suspects in the Bilasipara area. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sahidul Islam and Mozidul Islam.

During the raids, the STF seized substantial evidence indicating the duo’s involvement in the betting operation. Confiscated items included five mobile phones, bank passbooks from three different banks, a chequebook, and PAN cards.

Following their arrest, Sahidul and Mozidul were transferred to the Bilasipara police station for further investigation and legal proceedings. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb illegal betting activities and maintain integrity in sports.
