Assam STF Busts Major Narcotics Smuggling Ring, Recovers Heroin in Guwahati
Guwahati, June 28: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam, under the leadership of Anurag Sarmah, Additional Superintendent of Police (APS), successfully apprehended four individuals involved in the illicit narcotics trade from Manipur to Assam. During the operation conducted in Guwahati, the team seized 27 grams of heroin and uncovered critical financial and supply chain details related to the smuggling ring.
The arrested individuals have been identified as S Changboi Haokip (38), Letminlal Lhungding (40), Md Shahadat (19), and Rajaur Rafi (24). The arrests are anticipated to provide significant insights into the operations of the narcotics smuggling network, facilitating further crackdowns on the illicit trade.
This operation not only disrupted the supply chain but also provided detailed information about the financial transactions and mechanisms employed by the smugglers.
Meanwhile, security forces in Manipur have conducted several successful operations, recovering a variety of arms and ammunition. In the Naorem Leikai Pena Khongba area of Imphal West, two pistols, twelve live rounds of ammunition, and one hand grenade without a detonator were seized.
Additionally, in Chingphei Village and Heichanglok of Churachandpur district, three improvised pumps were recovered. In Singtom village of Kakching District, two HE-36 grenades with detonators and fuses, one BP vest, one combat t-shirt, and one plastic carrying bag were also seized.
These recoveries underscore the ongoing efforts of security forces to maintain peace and security in the region. Further details on both operations are awaited.
