Assam: STF Operation Targets Illegal IPL Betting in Bilasipara of Dhubri
Guwahati, 25th May: A decisive operation led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Satyendra Singh Hazari, as part of the Special Task Force (STF), aimed at dismantling illegal Indian Premier League (IPL) betting activities in Bilasipara, Dhubri. The operation resulted in the apprehension of two individuals and the seizure of various electronic gadgets and betting paraphernalia.
Acting on intelligence and surveillance, the STF team swiftly intervened to crack down on the illicit betting operation, putting an end to the clandestine activities that had been ongoing. The two individuals, whose identities remain undisclosed, were found in possession of electronic devices suspected to have been used for betting, along with other related items.
Following their apprehension, both suspects were transferred to the Bilasipara Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities are poised to take necessary actions against the accused in accordance with the law.
Illegal betting, particularly during popular sporting events like the IPL, poses a persistent challenge, prompting law enforcement agencies to undertake proactive measures to curb such activities. The STF’s operation underscores the ongoing efforts to uphold law and order and preserve the integrity of sporting events by combatting illegal gambling practices.
