Assam: STF Seizes 86.5 kg Heroin, 1 Arrested

Guwahati, 13th January: In a successful operation conducted by the Special Task Force, Assam (STF) at 9th mile, one drug peddler was arrested, and a substantial 86.5 kg of heroin was seized from his possession.

Sources indicate that the STF operation resulted in the confiscation of 52 vials containing heroin, Rs 3290 in cash, and three empty vials, along with a lighter, from the drug peddler at 9th mile, under Basistha Police Station jurisdiction.

The apprehended individual is now in custody, and necessary legal actions have been initiated. Further investigation is underway to ascertain any linkages related to the seized contraband.

In a prior incident, police in Assam’s Gossaigaon arrested two individuals along with four containers filled with brown sugar. Acting on specific intelligence, the police conducted a raid at Srirampur near the Assam-West Bengal interstate border, apprehending the two individuals and seizing four containers containing brown sugar.

The arrested persons are now facing charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
