Assam: Students Protest in Dalgaon Over Changes to Pragyan Bharati Scheme
Guwahati: A group of students in Dalgaon of Assam’s Darrang has taken to the streets to express their disappointment and frustration today over changes to the Pragyan Bharati scheme.
The government had recently announced that only students scoring 80% or above in their higher secondary exams would be eligible to receive scooters under the scheme.
The students are protesting because the new criteria exclude many who would have benefited from the scheme under the previous guidelines, which required a minimum score of 60%.
The protesters feel that the change is unfair and are urging the Chief Minister to reconsider the decision.
The students are chanting slogans such as “We need scooters, we want justice, Keep the Pragyan Bharati scheme intact” to emphasize their demands.
They are seeking a reversal of the decision and a return to the original criteria, which would allow more students to benefit from the scheme.
The protest highlights the concerns of students who feel that the changes to the Pragyan Bharati scheme will deprive them of a valuable opportunity.
The government is urged to take note of the students’ demands and consider their plight.
