Assam: Students to take Twitter storm over Offline Exam
Guwahati: Students from a number of universities in Assam have joined forces to call for a Twitter storm, demanding online exams in place of the scheduled offline exams at the universities.
Following a spike in COVID-19 instances in Assam, particularly in the Kamrup (M) area students have demanded online exams. Assam saw the largest and most severe outbreak of COVID-19 infections to date, with over 8,300 cases reported in a single day.
Despite many students testing positive for COVID-19 and hundreds showing symptoms, several universities in Assam continued to support offline classes and tests.
The government has set precise standards for schools to follow when it comes to holding offline lessons on alternate days.
However, no regulations prohibiting COVID-19 from being used at universities or by UG/PG students have been issued.
The authorities of Gauhati University and Cotton University have postponed examinations scheduled for January 21 to January 24 due to widespread pressure.
On the other hand, the authorities were adamant about conducting the remaining examinations in the offline format.
Students from Assam Science and Technological University (AEC, JEC, JIST, GIMT, BBEC, GEC, & BVEC) have organized a Twitter Storm today in coordination with students from Gauhati University, Cotton University, and All Assam Polytechnic Union.
It may be mentioned that the students who are stressed out and afraid to go to university to give online exams are going to do a Twitter storm on January 21 from 5 pm to 7 pm.
