Assam: Successful Seizure of Cattle Smuggling Operation by Gossaigaon Police

Guwahati, 15th May: In a decisive move against illegal cattle transportation, Gossaigaon police, under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Hiren Kumar Deka, intercepted a six-wheeler truck loaded with 18 cows suspected to be transported illegally from outside the state.

The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Grahampur police, unfolded on the under-construction 127 (B) National Highway. The truck, identified by registration number AS 28 AC 0523, was intercepted, leading to the apprehension of the truck driver, Abu Saman Sheikh, and his assistant, Shafiqul Islam. Both individuals are believed to be deeply involved in the cattle smuggling racket.

Abu Saman Sheikh resides in Ambari Bhuyanpara, while Shafiqul Islam hails from South Kharuapara in Barpeta, specifically in Dhubri’s Fakirganj area. Their arrest is anticipated to yield crucial insights into the extensive smuggling network operating across state borders.

The seized cows are now under the supervision of local authorities, who are ensuring their well-being and safety.

Sub-Divisional Officer Hiren Kumar Deka commended the coordination and prompt response of the Grahampur police team, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combatting illegal activities and upholding the rule of law.
