Guwahati, 12th September: Assam police have apprehended Sumi Borah and Tarkik Borah from Jorhat in connection with a multi-crore trading scam, which has left many investors facing significant financial losses.
The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation into the fraudulent trading activities. While the police have not yet disclosed the total amount of money involved, they have assured that a comprehensive inquiry is being conducted to determine the full scope of the fraud and to identify any other accomplices.
Sumi Borah and Tarkik Borah are currently in police custody and will be presented before a court in Dibrugarh soon. The case gained attention earlier on September 11 when Sumi Borah publicly announced her decision to surrender. Borah, along with her husband, had been on the run following accusations of their involvement in the scam, which has deeply affected regional trading markets.
Despite her surrender, Sumi Borah took to social media to deny the allegations against her, further fueling public speculation and interest in the case.
Authorities have urged members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
