Assam: Suspect Arrested in Connection with Ongoing Mule Account Scam in Guwahati
Guwahati: In a significant breakthrough, a police team in Chandmari, Guwahati, arrested a man suspected of being involved in an ongoing mule account scam.
The accused, identified as Abdul Rashid Ahmed (34), a resident of Nizarapar near Guwahati College, was apprehended following specific inputs received by the police.
During a search of his person and residence, authorities recovered several items, including passbooks, none of which were in his name.
Other items seized included bank account opening forms, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, Rs 8,000 in cash, and his mobile handset.
The accused allegedly attempted to dispose of the mobile device by throwing it into a nearby drain during the police search.
The police have linked the suspect to a mule account scam that has been ongoing in the city for several months.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover further details and identify others involved in the fraudulent activities.
