Assam: Suspected drug peddler injured in Barpeta
Guwahati: One suspected drug peddler has been injured in an encounter with the police in the Barpeta district of Assam.
The suspect identified as Diluwar Hussain is a resident of the district.
The incident took place at the Keotkuchi village of the district when the inmate tried to flee from the spot.
According to reports, a check point was set up in Keotkuchi to track a suspected narcotics movement based on “reliable input.”
During the search operation, a hatchback was stopped and when the driver was confronted, he pushed a police officer aside and attempted to flee.
As per reports, the police had to fire two bullets in order to stop him. The accused sustained a leg injury.
It may be noted that Hussain is alleged to be a drug peddler who was recently released from jail on NDPS charges.
It may be mentioned that Police officials further recovered 14 grams of suspected drugs from his possession.
