Assam: Suspected Drug Smuggler Apprehended with Rs 2 Crore Worth of Contraband Drugs
Guwahati, 24th September: Assam police made a significant drug bust on Saturday, apprehending a suspected drug smuggler and seizing a substantial amount of contraband drugs in Cachar district.
The estimated value of the seized contraband drugs is approximately Rs 2 crore. The arrested smuggler has been identified as Azad Uddin Barlaskar, aged 31.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Cachar police, led by Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, conducted an operation and intercepted a vehicle on the Banskandi-Silchar road.
During the search, the police team discovered and seized 18,000 Yaba tablets from the vehicle, resulting in the arrest of the drug peddler in Cachar district. An ongoing investigation aims to uncover further linkages in this case.
