Assam: Suspected heroin packed in 52 soap cases seized in Karimganj; 3 arrested

Guwahati, 7th October: As part of their ongoing efforts in the fight against drugs, the Assam Police on October 7 seized 568 grams of suspected heroin concealed within 52 soap cases in the Karimganj district of the state.

Acting on a tip received, a team from the Karimganj police conducted an operation last night, intercepting a vehicle at Gandharajbari, located within the jurisdiction of the Ratabari police station.

After conducting a thorough inspection of the vehicle, they uncovered 568 grams of suspected heroin hidden inside 52 soap cases, concealed within a secret compartment of the vehicle.

The police team not only confiscated the illicit drugs and the vehicle but also apprehended three individuals in connection with this incident.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to platform X to laud the efforts of Assam Police saying, “Based on a tip off, @karimganjpolice conducted a special operation last night where 568 grams of suspected heroin contained in 52 soap cases were seized from secret chambers of a vehicle coming from a neighbouring State in Gandharajbari under Ratabari PS. Three people have been arrested in this connection. Kudos @assampolice!
