Guwahati, 11th May: In a tense confrontation, forest rangers at Kaziranga National Park allegedly shot and killed a suspected poacher on the morning of May 11. The incident unfolded at Agratali, a region within the expansive territory of Kaziranga National Park, where the poacher encountered forest rangers near a forest camp located in the Rangamataria range along the park’s eastern boundary.
According to reports, the suspected poacher sustained fatal gunshot wounds during an exchange of fire with vigilant forest personnel tasked with protecting the park’s diverse wildlife. Demonstrating remarkable courage and determination, the park rangers engaged the poacher, ultimately prevailing in the face of imminent danger.
Upon securing the area, authorities conducted a meticulous search, uncovering compelling evidence linking the deceased poacher to illegal activities. Among the confiscated items were a 3.3 rifle, three live bullets, and a significant cache of two thousand empty cartridges, indicative of the poacher’s extensive involvement in illicit hunting practices.
