Assam: Suspicious Truck Loaded with Supari Found in Bongaigaon; Authorities Investigate Possible Smuggling Network

Guwahati: A truck loaded with supari (betel nut) was discovered under mysterious circumstances at Kakaijana in Bongaigaon district, raising concerns about an illegal trade operation in the area.

The vehicle, with the registration number MP 20 ZN 7539, was found abandoned along a rural road near National Highway 117. Local villagers alerted authorities about the suspicious vehicle, prompting the North Salmara police to seize the truck and transport it to the police station for further investigation.

The villagers believe that the discovery is linked to a well-organized smuggling network operating in the region, especially during the night. They have urged the authorities to take immediate and stringent action to crack down on the illegal trade.

At this stage, police have yet to determine the truck’s owner or the origin of the supari consignment. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full scope of the operation.
