Assam: Tea Workers Protest Unpaid Wages in Baksa

Guwahati, 27th February: Tea workers at the Fatemabad tea estate in Baksa voiced their prolonged struggle against unpaid wages through a protest. Dozens of agitated workers gathered in front of the Barbari police station, directing their grievances towards estate owner Rajesh Jalan.

The ongoing protest, spanning several days, reflects the mounting frustration among laborers who assert they haven’t received their rightful earnings for a month. Rajesh Jalan, the garden’s proprietor, bore the workers’ ire as they accused him of neglecting their demands and failing to address their concerns.

Amidst a chorus of slogans condemning Jalan’s alleged indifference, the workers expressed their desperation, highlighting their struggle to support their families without the wages owed to them. Despite persistent demonstrations, both Jalan and local authorities face criticism for allegedly ignoring the laborers’ plight.
