Assam Tea Workers Union Holds Protest in Sonari

Guwahati: A two-hour protest programme was successfully conducted in Sonari today by the Assam Tea Workers Union in support of several demands of tea workers employed in the Brahmaputra Valley tea gardens.

The protest, which began at 8 am, saw workers gathering in front of the office of the garden managers, holding placards and banners.

The workers, employed in gardens under the Sonari branch of the Assam Tea Labour Union, created a tumultuous atmosphere while chanting slogans demanding the immediate fulfillment of their long-standing demands. The protest was a response to the call made by the central committee of the union.
