Assam: Teacher and Local Resident detained for Alleged ULFA-I Ties in Charaideo
Assam: In a crackdown on the banned militant outfit Samyukta Mukti Bahini, Assam [Swadhin], the Assam Police officials have detained two individuals including a teacher in Charaideo district on November 27.
They were detained in connection for their alleged involvement with the ULFA-I.
The detained individuals have been identified as Jitumoni Gogoi, a teacher at Sapekhati Girls’ High School and Mithu Barua. Both of them are residents of Lung village under Sonari police station.
As per sources, both of them have been booked under Case No. 124/24 at Sonari police station.
Notably, the arrests are part of a larger crackdown on the ULFA-I, which has resurfaced after a prolonged period of inactivity. Several individuals with indirect links to the outfit have been arrested and jailed in recent days.
The ULFA-I is a banned militant organization that seeks to establish an independent state of Assam. The outfit has been involved in various violent activities, including assassinations, bombings, and kidnappings.
